Lorenz attractor, a fractal set due to meteorologist E. Lorenz. He discovered that the weather system, as a dynamical system, is “chaotic” (and its trajectories are in a certain sense attracted to the Lorenz attractor), which is why we are not able to predict the weather too far into the future - two weeks is the upper limit, after which the prediction may not have anything to do with the actual weather.
